Jack Heath is CEO of SANE Australia, and is well-known and well-respected for his work to improve the lives of young people affected by mental illness and as an advocate for improved treatments and support.

He began his career as a diplomat, and served as a Senior Adviser to both Paul Keating and Kevin Rudd, and was speechwriter to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade.

In 1996 he founded the Inspire Foundation, which runs the ReachOut.com youth mental health service. The Inspire Foundation works with government, corporate and community organisations to develop innovative internet-based projects that provide support for young people in crisis and promote mental well being. It has expanded to Ireland and US, and Heath has received requests to replicate Reach Out in New Zealand and The Philippines. Awards received by Reach Out include the 2000 Australian Information Industries Association Award for Best Use of Technology by a Community Organisation and the 1998 and 1999 Australian Internet Award for Best Community Web site.

Heath joined SANE Australia in 2012, bringing his considerable knowledge and skills in the mental health field, in promoting wellbeing and in suicide prevention to SANE’s mission to work for a better life for people affected by mental illness.

In 2001, Heath was awarded the Centenary Medal for his contribution to Australian society.
