Charles Goode has had a long and distinguished career as the director of a number of major companies in the banking, airline and energy industries. He served for 15 years as ANZ Bank’s chairman, as the director for Woodside Petroleum for eight years and as director of Singapore Airlines for seven. As ANZ’s chairman, Goode provided the initial push to expand the bank’s services into Asia and into the online world. During his years as chairman, ANZ enlarged its holdings in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific through acquisitions, new partnerships and its own development. Today ANZ is the third largest bank in Australia and now offers services in 30 nations outside of Australia and New Zealand.
Goode has also been active in the charitable world. He was formerly the chairman of the Howard Florey Institute of Experimental Physiology and Medicine and is currently the chairman of the Ian Potter Foundation, which focuses on founding innovative projects in nine areas, including the arts, education, conservation, health and medical research.
Goode became a Companion of the Order of Australia in 2001 for his service to the financial industry and his direction in charitable and health-related organisations. He is now part of Dūcere’s Global Leaders Faculty, drawing on many years of experience in the private and public sector.
