Stephen Sigmund is the founding Executive Director of Global Gateway Alliance, a coalition of leaders in business, government, academia, labor and other sectors established to address the major challenges facing the New York metropolitan region’s airports and related infrastructure.
Sigmund has spent over 20 years as an executive, advisor, and spokesperson to some of the top corporations, politicians, foundations and advocacy organizations in New York, New Jersey and the nation.
He served for five years as Chief of Public and Government Affairs for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the nation’s leading regional public authority, with responsibility for the largest airport system in the country.
Sigmund was also Senior Vice President/Managing Director at Global Strategy Group, a national public affairs firm, Communications Director and Senior Policy Advisor for City Council Speaker Gifford Miller and Communications Director for Governor Jon Corzine in New Jersey.
In addition, he held roles in the private sector as a Vice President at Robinson Lerer & Montgomery and AOL Time Warner, and on numerous national and local political campaigns.
He has written on communications issues for publications including The New York Times, the New York Observer, Capital New York, and the New Orleans Gambit.
Sigmund teaches communications as a Lecturer at Columbia University, is married and is the father of two daughters.
